Panic Disorder

Individuals with panic disorder experience recurrent, unexpected panic attacks (discrete periods of intense fear or discomfort) that involve some or all of the following symptoms:

  • pounding heart or palpitations
  • sweating, hot flushes or chills
  • chest pain or discomfort
  • difficulty breathing
  • trembling or shaking
  • tingling or numbness
  • nausea or abdominal distress
  • choking sensations
  • feelings of unreality or detachment
  • dizziness, lightheadedness or feeling faint
  • fear of losing control or going crazy
  • fear of dying
