Self-help Many people suffering from an anxiety disorder have been able to achieve significant relief by following a self-help program, commonly outlined in either a book or audio/video tape program. Most self-help programs may be used alone or as an adjunct to professional treatment. The following include self-help programs that I have developed as a result of my nearly 30 years of clinical practice:
The self-help portion of this book includes detailed information about effective coping tools and techniques, goal setting, using daily task sheets, managing fearful thoughts and impulses, breathing control, relaxation and exercise, communicating with family, friends and colleagues, overcoming setbacks, and more.
