Goals of Therapy

The primary goal of therapy is for individuals to lead a full and normal life, without avoidance.

Psychological treatments at The Ross Center focus on:

  1. Education about the psychological and physiological causes of the various anxiety conditions.
  2. Teaching specific techniques to reduce both the emotional and physical symptoms of anxiety.
  3. Guidance in recognizing and changing thoughts and behaviors that contribute to discomfort.
  4. Reducing avoidance or ritualistic behavior in gradual, manageable steps.

Therapy at The Ross Center is experiential and pro-active. Participants are actively engaged in the recovery process and are encouraged to complete written and practical homework assignments, individually designed to reinforce the specific coping strategies and techniques learned during the therapy sessions.
