Pregnant Women

You’re pregnant! How exciting, and scary, and overwhelming. Even the smoothest of pregnancies can bring up a wide range of anxieties and emotions. During this group, expectant parents will be given the opportunity to share any concerns, stresses or overwhelming feelings they may be experiencing.  Participants will be provided with a supportive group environment led by licensed therapist, Mara Watts, LPC, who specializes in perinatal and postnatal mental health.  Relatable and funny, Mara shares her own experiences of surviving perinatal anxiety while leading this group.

Topics covered may include:

  • Managing the ups and downs of pregnancy
  • Feelings of depression during pregnancy
  • Communicating with your partner and family
  • Expectations vs. reality
  • Excessive worry and anxiety

In this group, you will find a safe place to voice your anxieties and concerns. Mara will offer treatment suggestions using a unique combination of psychoeducation, mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, connection and humor.  The connection made among expectant parents can be the start of collaboration and healing.

During this open, drop -in group, participants will be provided with the tools to become more confident and supported parents.

The group is appropriate for both first-time pregnant women and pregnant mothers who already have children.
