Demystifying Neuropsychological Evaluations: A Parent’s Guide

young child getting a psychological assessment.

Location:

Webinar via Zoom

Intended for:

Parents

Date / Time:

Wednesday, October 8, 2025. 7:00 PM ET. Event will be recorded if this time is not convenient.

Program Description:

When your child is struggling at school or home, it can be hard to know whether testing is the right next step. This webinar will break down the purpose of neuropsychological evaluations, what they can uncover, how the results can be used for your child, and how to choose a trusted provider who can truly meet your family’s needs.

Led by Ross Center Director of Testing and Assessments Ryan Landoll, PhD, and Testing Specialist Sadie Shin, PhD, this webinar will give you an understanding of what is involved in testing and how you can best support your child through the process.

Who is this Webinar For?

This free webinar is designed specifically for parents if:

  • Your child seems bright but underperforms in school, and you want to understand why.
  • Your child struggles with attention, hyperactivity, procrastination, organization, or completing tasks independently.
  • You have concerns about developmental delays, learning challenges, or behavioral and social difficulties.
  • An educator or pediatrician has recommended an assessment for your child.
  • You believe your child could benefit from classroom supports, testing accommodations, or a specific school placement.
  • You want to better understand your child’s emotional world (e.g., anxiety, depression, difficulty regulating emotions) and how it impacts your child’s academic and social functioning.
  • You want a comprehensive understanding of your child’s strengths and challenges to guide both support and enrichment.

What Will You Learn?

During the webinar and Q&A session, you’ll learn how to:

  • Understand the comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation process
  • Recognize the different abilities and areas evaluated (learning, attention, memory, social-emotional functioning, and more)
  • Advocate effectively for your child — ensuring their needs are met and the evaluation leads to meaningful next steps
