Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) offers powerful, evidence-based tools to build resilience, regulate emotions, and create healthier relationships. DBT teaches you strategies of acceptance and change that enable you to handle life’s challenges more effectively.

What Are the Components of the Program?

The Adult Comprehensive DBT Program consists of four modes:

1. Individual Psychotherapy:
Weekly therapy sessions with a DBT-trained therapist

2. Skills Group:
Weekly skills group consisting of 3-8 people who learn and master the skills in each module

3. Phone Coaching:
Brief 5-10 minute phone conversations when clients need extra support using a skill in the moment

4. Clinical Consult Team:
Individual DBT therapists and skills group leaders meet as a team to ensure treatment adherence and to provide the highest quality of care

What Will I Learn In The DBT Program?

You’ll gain important skills in the following modules:  

  1. Mindfulness

Learn to be fully present in daily activities, increase happiness and reduce suffering

  1. Emotion Regulation

Learn to better understand and be in control of your feelings, be flexible in your thinking and manage difficult emotions.

  1. Interpersonal Effectiveness

Learn how to improve, maintain, and find balance in relationships, set limits, be assertive and end destructive relationships

  1. Distress Tolerance

Learn to work through challenging situations, decrease rumination, accept things you do not have the power to change, and increase sense of inner peace.

What are the Entry Dates for New Participants?

New participants are welcome at the beginning of each new 8-week module. Please inquire for more information.

What is the Required Commitment?

Participants are asked to commit to an entire 24-week program.

How is the Program Delivered?  

This program is offered both in-person and virtually. Participants must choose only one format, there is not a hybrid option.
  • In-Person Group Details: Wednesdays, 6-8PM, at The Ross Center of Northern Virginia.The Ross Center – Northern Virginia 1595 Spring Hill Road, Suite 520, Vienna, VA 22182

  • Virtual Group Details: Mondays, 1-2:30PM. Virtual participants must be located in Washington DC, Maryland or Virginia – or in any of the 42 states where PSYPACT has been enacted. PSYPACT is a program that allows licensed therapists to practice virtually in approved states. Click here to see whether your state is included in the list of eligible states.

Thank you for your interest in our SPACE-informed parenting group. Our group is designed to work with parents of children whose primary difficulty is anxiety with related avoidance behavior. Please answer the following questions so that we can gain a better understanding of you and your child.
