Practice Philosophy:

Dr. Ade Adelakun is an observant and empathetic psychiatrist providing treatment to children, adolescents and adults with neuropsychiatric disorders and mood and behavioral disorders. Easygoing and personable, he puts patients at ease through his calm demeanor and sense of humor. An excellent listener, Dr. Ade takes the time to educate and clearly explain diagnoses and treatment options to patients and families. He advocates for concurrent therapy and collaborates with a patient’s therapist and other providers, including educational, social, and family support systems. With an extensive understanding of medication options, he is able to determine the optimal treatment strategy and prescribes medication when necessary.

Areas of Expertise:

Dr. Ade emphasizes a holistic approach that includes patient education, strengthening patient support systems, and incorporating a patient’s medical and personal history. He specializes in treating patients with anxiety and mood disorders, including depression, panic disorder, OCD, and insomnia, as well as neuropsychiatric disorders including Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Tourette Disorder and Tic Disorders. His clinical management is guided by his education, training and experience treating psychiatric disorders. He applies his medical acumen and can advise on more challenging cases.

Experience and Training:

Dr. Ade received his medical degree at the George Washington University, School of Medicine and Health Sciences and Master’s in Public Health at the George Washington University, School of Public Health. Dr. Ade served as a Chief Resident at the Thomas Jefferson University Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Program. He served as the Minority Fellowship Program Chair of the American Psychiatric Association (APA)/Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)/American Psychiatric Association Foundation (APAF) and was a former Board of Trustee on the American Psychiatric Association Executive Committee.
