Methods of Treatment

At our Washington office, our clinicians are specialists in a number of modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy (ERP), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). These therapies have been proven effective in helping patients make emotional progress and adopt healthier coping behaviors.

The behavioral approaches our DC therapists use help our patients identify and stop the destructive behaviors and thought patterns that are at the root of many psychological and emotional problems. CBT has been proven to help many patients make noticeable progress in a fairly short amount of time. It is our goal to help each and every patient to deal with mental illness and emotional problems in an effective, empowering way so that they can live happier and more productive lives.

When medication is an appropriate treatment, Ross Center psychiatrists take care to balance effectiveness and safety, choosing those medications with the fewest side effects. Whether we recommend medication as an option by itself or used along with psychotherapy, we develop every treatment plan in conjunction with the patient.

Children’s Mental Health

Children struggling with anxiety, ADHD, phobias, behavioral problems and other mental health disorders can benefit greatly from our services. With help from our child psychiatrists and psychotherapists, our young patients in Washington DC can learn how to manage their anxious thoughts and behave in more appropriate ways.

We teach parents the tools and techniques to best support their child and reinforce positive behaviors. Our goal with all of our children’s mental health services is to help your child achieve lasting change and better mental health for life. Learn more about how we work with children and teens here
