Dr. Shin provides comprehensive neuropsychological testing for children and adults through a patient-centered and culturally sensitive approach. She recognizes that each client brings a unique story and tailors every assessment to honor the individual’s background, identity, and specific concerns. She creates a calm and supportive environment where clients feel at ease throughout the assessment process. Her protocol includes age-appropriate measures that reflect the developmental stage and abilities of each client. She prides herself on diagnostic accuracy and delivers meaningful reports that are clear, concise, and actionable. Her goal is to help every client reach their potential, enhance quality of life, and succeed academically, socially, and professionally.
Areas of Expertise:
Dr. Shin is a clinical neuropsychologist with extensive experience conducting neuropsychological assessments across the lifespan. She is passionate about supporting children, adolescents, and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, learning disabilities, and other neurodevelopmental concerns by identifying strengths and challenges, and providing tailored recommendations and resources. She collaborates closely with individuals and families, advocates for students in school settings, assists with navigating IEPS, and connects clients with the appropriate supports to help them thrive. Dr. Shin also evaluates adults with neurodegenerative conditions (such as Alzheimer’s disease and dementia), acquired brain injuries (including strokes or traumatic brain injury), or complex medical conditions (such as long COVID or chronic fatigue syndrome). In addition, she assesses the impact of mood disorders on cognitive functioning across all age groups.
Experience and Training:
Dr. Shin earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Palo Alto University and her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Sociology from New York University. Dr. Shin completed rigorous training in both inpatient and outpatient neuropsychology at her APA-accredited predoctoral internship in neuropsychology at Northwell Health, Staten Island University Hospital and her postdoctoral fellowship at the Cognitive Assessment Group. She has also received intensive predoctoral training in neuropsychological testing at hospital systems including Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Montefiore Medical Center, and the VA Palo Alto Health Care System. Committed to ongoing professional development, Dr. Shin continues to study emerging research, attend conferences, and review current literature to ensure her clients benefit from the most up-to-date, evidence-based assessment practices.
