Location:

Intended for:

High School Students in grades 9-12

Date / Time:

Wednesdays, 4:00 – 5:15pm: beginning June 10th. 4 Sessions. The group will be delivered remotely via zoom.

Who could have predicted the degree to which the world has changed since the middle of March? Life as you know it has changed significantly. Come together with other teens to share and support one another. We will focus on developing the skills necessary to build resilience during this challenging time. Prepare yourself to emerge stronger and better able to manage the inevitable ups and downs that life has in store.

The group will address the circumstances we all find ourselves in, and the unique challenges that you have as high school students. We will give you tools to manage anxiety and respond in more positive ways. Each session will provide space to support each other and will focus on specific skills including:

  • Become more mindful and accepting of the present situation
  • Gain tools that allow you to regulate your emotions
  • Develop the ability to tolerate discomfort and distress
  • Strengthen communication skills
  • Identify and challenge negative thought patterns

The program will give you a safe place to process your fears with like-minded peers. Gain the skills and confidence needed to weather this challenging time in a supportive, non-threatening environment.

Location:

Although the program originates from our Northern Virginia office, this virtual support group will be delivered via Zoom, and facilitated by Dr. Posner. Open to teens living in the Washington DC, Maryland, or Virginia region.
