Introduction to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

On-Demand Webinar

Intended for:

Social workers, therapists and psychologists looking to learn more about ACT

Date / Time:

Recorded Webinar – 1 Hour

Open Up, Be Present and Do What Matters.

Join us for a professional development workshop (on-demand webinar recording) introducing three pillars of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): Open Up, Be Present and Do What Matters. Unlike therapeutic models concerned with pathology, dysfunctional thoughts or reduction of symptoms, ACT instead addresses psychological flexibility.

Participants will learn:

  • How ACT conceptualizes behavior and mental health in terms of flexibility and inflexibility processes.
  • What the terms hooked, unhooked, fusion, and defusion mean in relation to thoughts, emotions and self concept.
  • Why value directed action is more meaningful than achievement as a measurement of therapeutic outcome.

Barbra Waldfogel, LCSW uses metaphors and experiential exercises to teach social workers, therapists and psychologists basic ACT skills. Clinicians using other models of treatment will learn how to incorporate thought defusion and values clarification into their clinical repertoire, and gain confidence in using ACT concepts to help clients move toward more meaningful lives.

On-Demand Webinar Recording. Webinar recorded October 27th, 2020.

Registrants will receive an access link to view the presentation recording at their convenience.
