Program Description:
The demand for greater recognition and treatment of problematic use of internet and video games has been growing throughout in the digital age, and has been rising exponentially in the wake of the pandemic. Evidence continues to support key similarities between internet and video game use disorders and substance use disorders.
This introductory-level presentation will give therapists and educators a basic overview of the clinical assessment and treatment of digital use disorders. This webinar is led by a psychiatrist with over 12 years of experience as a clinical child, adolescent, and young adult psychiatrist, who has served as a consultant and educator specifically on the topic of digital use disorders.

Describe why digital technology is so stimulating and why children and teenagers are most vulnerable to this stimulating affect.

Dr. Sussman has been in private practice in psychiatry for children, adolescents, and young adults since 2008 in Washington, DC, where he specializes in treating internet and video game use disorders. He often treats patients with co-morbid conditions, such as ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder. He is also an expert consultant to the Internet and Video Game Use Disorder Track at Caron Renaissance in Florida.
