Daniella Heller, MD

Practice Philosophy:

Dr. Daniella Heller is a Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychiatrist who diagnoses and treats patients from a compassionate, holistic perspective.  Empathic and caring, she creates an environment where patients and families feel listened to and comfortable, and develops a treatment plan unique to each person’s situation. To determine the optimal care plan, she takes into consideration one’s medical and social background as well as the role culture plays in each one of us. She does not rush to prescribe medication, but if warranted she will make sure that patients and families understand the rationale, benefits and potential side effects. She is an advocate for therapy along with psychiatric care, and collaborates closely with referring therapists to ensure a comprehensive approach to treatment. She believes a patient is much more than their symptoms, focusing on one’s strengths and considering the aspects of normal development that may impact behavior and potential.

Areas of Expertise:

Dr. Heller provides evaluations and treatment for various conditions including depression, anxiety, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, OCD, Tourette Syndrome, and PTSD. She has expertise in psychopharmacology and medication management for adolescents, teens, and adults. Parents are significantly involved in treatment for children under the age of 18, however she also carves out private time to meet individually with the child. As a child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist, she is able to work seamlessly with children as they transition through college and into young adulthood.

She completed her Residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and her fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at North Shore University Hospital – NYU.
