Dr. Lisa Catapano is an Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the George Washington University. Dr. Catapano graduated from Harvard Medical School in 2003 with an M.D. and a Ph.D. in Neurobiology. She trained in Psychiatry at George Washington University and completed a fellowship in clinical research at NIMH. In her current practice she specializes in mood disorders in women related to infertility, pregnancy and the postpartum period. In 2011, she co-founded the Five Trimesters clinic to train residents in perinatal psychiatry and provide low-fee perinatal mental health care for patients. She has served as its director for the past 12 years.
Dr. Catapano served as the Training Director for the Psychiatry Residency Program from 2012 to 2016 and in 2017 was honored with the APA Irma Bland Award for Excellence in Resident Education. She is currently a member of the National Task Force on Women’s Mental Health, a member of the Marcé Society of North America’s Education Committee, and a board member of the DC Perinatal Mental Health Consortium. She co-edited the APA Textbook on Women’s Reproductive Mental Health, the first major textbook in this field.
