Evidence-Based Therapy for Trauma
EMDR therapy is an evidence-based approach designed to alleviate the distress associated with highly upsetting and/or traumatic memories. Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR does not require clients to describe their traumatic experiences in detail. Instead, it uses bilateral stimulation—eye movements, auditory tones, tapping—to help the brain process and integrate these memories more adaptively. The process of EMDR therapy involves eight phases:- History Taking
- Preparation
- Assessment
- Desensitization
- Installation
- Body Scan
- Closure
- Reevaluation
