Back-to-School Jitters Unpacked: A Parent’s Guide Using SPACE

Location:

Recorded Webinar

Intended for:

Parents of Anxious Children & Teens Worried about Going Back to School

Date / Time:

Recorded Webinar – Recorded on 8/23/24

Program Description:

Many children feel some anxiety about returning to school, and it often falls on you, the parent, to ease your child’s concerns. If your child’s anxiety is excessive, we’re here to help. In this free webinar, you will learn supportive tools to help minimize your child’s anxiety and teach them how they can handle their fears.

This program might be for you, if your child:

  • Experiences sleep disruptions due to nervousness about returning to school
  • Frequently expresses anxiety about school, handling homework, or being called on in class
  • Is tearful at the thought of going back to school
  • Feels particularly worried about riding the school bus
  • Is highly anxious about transitioning to a new school and making new friends
  • Worries about arriving at school on time or parents being punctual for pick-up
  • Is constantly asking you for reassurance that they will get along with new peers and teachers

In this free 60-minute webinar and Q&A, our child psychologists discuss how to support your child’s anxiety as they prepare to return to school. Using the principles from the SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions) program,  a parent-based program designed specifically to teach caregivers how best to respond to their children who struggle with anxiety, we will unpack practical solutions and insights to support your child through their back-to-school worries.

First day jitters are a common experience for many children and particularly so for children with anxiety or learning differences.

Gain valuable tips so you can understand your child’s concerns, help them in navigating their anxiety, and foster their resilience. Don’t miss this opportunity to empower yourself as a parent and ease your child’s first day jitters!

Intended Audience:

Parents of children and teens who experience worries about going back to school, including children with Separation Anxiety, Social Anxiety, Generalized Anxiety, OCD, Emetophobia, Fears and Phobias, Panic Disorder and Agoraphobia, or Selective Mutism.

*This program will cover issues specific to returning to school, so will still be relevant and valuable for parents who attended our Camp Jitters event earlier this summer.
