Practice Philosophy:
Stacy Coyle, PsyD, is a licensed psychologist who provides individual therapy to children, adolescents and adults. True to her Midwestern roots, Dr. Coyle strives to create a warm and friendly relationship with all individuals. When working with younger kiddos, her top priority is to create a therapeutic experience that is positive and fun, and in which they feel good about coming to their sessions. Treats and games are a staple in Dr. Coyle’s sessions! Dr. Coyle incorporates parents in the therapy by providing parent psychoeducation and coaching to help them provide a home atmosphere that enhances their child’s progress towards their goals. She also offers parent consultations to parents who are looking for professional support and guidance. With individuals of all ages, Dr. Coyle values building a collaborative patient-therapist relationship and empowers each person to reach their potential. Successes and achievements are celebrated throughout therapy, as she creates a positive environment that facilitates growth and change.
Areas of Expertise:
Dr. Coyle specializes in treating childhood disorders such as ADHD and Pervasive Developmental Disorders, addressing behaviors related to impulsivity, anger and frustration, social challenges, inattention, and inflexibility. She also treats individuals who are struggling with anxiety, depressed mood, low self-esteem, and those who are experiencing difficulties with life transitions or stressors. Dr. Coyle uses an integrative therapy approach emphasizing Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). She is trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and serves as a provider in the DBT program at The Ross Center, and is also trained to use SPACE – Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions in working with parents of anxious children.
Experience and Training:
Dr. Coyle obtained her Masters and Doctoral degrees from Argosy University-Twin Cities (formerly the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology), and attended the University of Minnesota for her undergraduate education. She has worked in a variety of mental health settings, including community mental health, an integrated health care center with privileges at the affiliated hospital, schools, and in group private practice. She has supervised predoctoral students for both therapy and psychological testing. Dr. Coyle deeply values collaborative care, and she actively engages with other providers and disciplines to facilitate well-rounded care for her patients. She serves as the Director of Professional Development at The Ross Center, which is a role that very much aligns with her strong belief in ongoing learning and professional growth.
Dr. Coyle has completed continuing education requirements that meet the initiatives of The Ross Center’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force.
