Location:

On-Demand Webinar

Intended for:

Doctorate level psychologists practicing in research, consultation, or clinical practice

Date / Time:

Webinar Recorded 3/20/2023 – 1 1/2 Hours

Program Description:

The American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) includes 17 specialty boards and 1 subspecialty board. Only approximately 4% of clinical psychologists are currently board certified and the process to becoming board certified can be confusing and intimidating. However, board certification offers several advantages, including recognized expertise in a domain or specialty, membership in a clinical community of practice, increased license mobility and increased pay in some organizations.

This beginning level workshop provides attendees with an improved understanding of the professional practice of psychology and its educational pipeline, to include understanding the rationale for pursuing board certification as part of one’s professional development and how to optimize the process and prepare for the examination.

Clinical Objectives:

  • Articulate the structure and function of the American Board of Professional Psychology, the general requirements of board certification and a basic understanding of specialty requirements.
  • Evaluate how board certification may relate to one’s own professional goals as a psychologist.
  • Develop a plan to achieve board certification in a specialty of their choice if in line with their professional goals.
