Location

Washington, D.C.

Age Range:

Children & Adolescents

Practice Philosophy:

Dr. Ryan Landoll is a dual boarded Clinical and Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychologist who works with a wide range of children, adolescents, and their families. Dr. Landoll adopts an open and collaborative approach to therapy that centers on the child and their family’s needs and experiences. He tends to “think big,” and fundamentally believes in the importance of understanding and working with a child’s or teen’s full support system – at home, at school, and with their peers. As a result, Dr. Landoll will regularly include parents and families in his work, respecting the autonomy and independence of children and teens to emphasize collaboration and skill building.  Given Dr. Landoll’s approach to working with children through the lens of their environment and relationships, most work with those under 12 will be collaborative and heavily involve their caregivers. Dr. Landoll also actively conducts research focusing on a wide range of topics including medical education, sexual health, child anxiety, and cyber victimization. Thus, he infuses the latest in evidenced-based and scientific practices to his practice, resulting in actionable steps that help children, adolescents, and their families to make incremental progress in support of their goals.

Areas of Expertise:

Dr. Landoll has successfully treated patients struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, disruptive behavior, sleep difficulties, chronic pain, grief, and other health related conditions. He has worked extensively with both children and adults, including military families, active-duty service members, and veterans, along with individuals challenged by interpersonal, occupational, and relationship issues. He is trained in a wide range of evidenced-based treatments, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Therapy for Depression (IPT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-i), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE) for PTSD, and the Unified Protocol for the Treatment of Emotional Disorders in Children and Adolescents (UP-C/A). Dr. Landoll is also available for parent consultations, offering support to parents in navigating a child’s developmental transitions and collaborative problem solving for healthy parenting and optimal child development.

Experience and Training:

Dr. Landoll received his PhD in Clinical Psychology with a Specialization in Children and Families from the University of Miami. He served as a clinical psychologist with the United States Air Force and deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Freedom’s Sentinel. He received a second Master’s degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Health Professions Education and is dual board certified in both Clinical Psychology and Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology. He continues to actively conduct research and teach military healthcare professionals and is passionate about the needs of military and veteran service members and their families. He also serves as the Director of Psychological Testing and Evaluation at The Ross Center.

Dr. Landoll has completed continuing education requirements that meet the initiatives of The Ross Center’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force.
