Dr. Ramsawh takes a thoughtful, supportive, and collaborative approach to therapy.  She helps patients shift maladaptive patterns of thinking and behaving so they can feel more fulfilled and live in greater alignment with their goals and values. Drawing on her clinical and research expertise, Dr. Ramsawh combines evidence-based treatment with a personalized approach tailored to each patient’s needs. Warm and approachable, she also brings a touch of humor into her work to make patients feel comfortable and understood. She helps patients develop realistic strategies for navigating anxiety, sleep difficulties, and other concerns that may interfere with wellbeing, self-worth, and contentment. Dr. Ramsawh also recognizes the important role that culture, ethnicity, family of origin, and personal experiences play in shaping how we see ourselves and move through the world.

Areas of Expertise:

Dr. Ramsawh specializes in the assessment and treatment of anxiety and related disorders, including social anxiety, panic disorder, and phobias. She also has experience in treating insomnia, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), chronic pain, and sexual dysfunction. With an extensive background in research on the phenomenology and treatment of anxiety-related conditions, she brings a deep understanding of the factors that contribute to these concerns and the interventions that can be most effective. Depending on a patient’s needs and goals, she draws from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), as well as short-term, solution-focused, and problem-solving approaches to care.

Experience and Training:

Dr. Ramsawh received her BA in Psychology from Hampton University, an historically Black college and university (HBCU), and her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Boston University. At Boston University’s world-renowned Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders, she received extensive training in diagnostic evaluation and cognitive behavioral therapy. She completed her internship at Long Island Jewish Medical Center and advanced her training through postdoctoral fellowships at both Brown University and the University of California San Diego. Dr. Ramsawh has spent years studying anxiety and insomnia in both military and general populations, and continues to contribute to the research field. She brings both scientific expertise and practical, patient-centered care to the therapy room.
