Dr. Ashley Alderette is a licensed clinical psychologist who works with young to middle aged adults.  Her approach is warm, empathic, and energetic.  She believes the therapeutic relationship is an important element in helping clients to achieve their therapeutic goals.  Therefore, she aims to create a safe and non-judgmental space where clients can feel comfortable talking about and working through the problems that are bringing them to therapy.  Dr. Alderette focuses on helping clients build self-awareness, identify patterns that are keeping them stuck and change the ineffective thoughts and behaviors that are getting in the way of living the life they want to live.

Areas of Expertise:

Dr. Alderette specializes in working with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, social connectedness, life transitions, perfectionism, and disordered eating, with a focus on helping clients to remain present and resilient in response to day-to-day demands.  She employs evidence based clinical services including, but not limited to, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Radically Open Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (RO DBT).

Experience and Training:

Dr. Alderette received her Psy.D. and M.A. in Clinical Psychology from The American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University and her B.S. in Psychology and Sociology from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University.  Dr. Alderette completed an APA-accredited internship at Loudoun County Mental Health Substance Abuse and Developmental Services in Virginia.  She has extensive clinical experience in outpatient and residential treatment programs working with diverse populations experiencing relationship issues, trauma, grief and bereavement, mood disorders, eating disorders, anxiety disorders, personality disorders, self-harming and suicidal behaviors, and serious mental illnesses. Dr. Alderette is intensively trained in DBT and currently being intensively trained in RO DBT.  She also has training in providing psychological and psychoeducational assessments for individuals experiencing emotional, behavioral, personality, and intellectual concerns and she provided clinical supervision to graduate students working in outpatient and college campus settings.
