Practice Philosophy:
Dr. Momeni believes that the best psychiatric care begins with understanding the whole person, not just a list of symptoms. Warm, approachable, and easy to connect with for children and adults alike, she takes the time to consider each patient's unique medical, developmental, psychological, cultural, family and social background. She clearly explains diagnoses and medication options, partnering with patients and families to collaborate on treatment plans that lead to optimal mental health.
Dr. Momeni takes a thoughtful, measured approach to medication management, using the least amount of medication necessary while recognizing that medication is only one part of effective treatment. With children and adolescents, she creates a safe and comfortable environment where young people can share their experiences so she can understand their challenges and advocate for each child. Parents appreciate her sensitivity to their concerns around medication, and value her expertise so they can make wise decisions together that most benefit their child. She works closely with therapists, psychologists, pediatricians, schools, and other healthcare professionals to ensure treatment is coordinated and comprehensive.
With adolescents and young adults, Dr. Momeni also incorporates supportive psychotherapy to help patients explore how early relationships, attachment patterns, and life experiences influence current emotions, behaviors, and relationships. She encourages patients to incorporate healthy lifestyle habits and mindfulness practices into their daily lives, recognizing the important role these strategies can play in supporting emotional health alongside psychiatric care.
