Dr. Tioluwanimi “Tolu” Ojoyeyi, PsyD, is a psychology postdoctoral fellow who enjoys using change-oriented strategies to enable older adolescents and adults to create and live fulfilling lives. Open and empathetic, Dr. Ojoyeyi often uses humor to create an environment where patients feel safe and comfortable to discuss challenging topics. She offers insights and support to individuals struggling with transitions, including career decisions, relationship challenges, and independence.  With a calm and grounding demeanor, she understands how the stressors of our tumultuous modern life, including climate change, influencer culture, social media, racial justice issues and Covid have made daily life more stressful. She offers creative solutions for challenging times, helping each patient to grow into the person they want to become.

Areas of Expertise:

Dr. Ojoyeyi specializes in working with older teens and adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, life transitions, anger management, body image concerns, and OCD. She also offers parent consultations. As a BIPOC psychologist, Dr. Ojoyeyi is sensitive to the experiences of those who have faced oppression, microaggressions, or trauma due to their race, sexuality, or other diverse traits. Her training in DBT gives her an expansive tool box to draw from in helping individuals learn to tolerate distress, practice mindfulness, and develop acceptance-based skills. In her practice, she utilizes elements from psychodynamic therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). She also has experience working with those who suffer from eating disorders and substance use disorders

Experience and Training:

Dr. Ojoyeyi received her PsyD in Counseling Psychology from The University of St Thomas in Minneapolis, MN. Prior to that, Dr. Ojoyeyi received her masters degree in Clinical and Mental Health Counseling from The Adler University in Chicago. Dr. Ojoyeyi has had intensive training in Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT) which has included individual DBT therapy, DBT family therapy, and DBT skills classes. She has had rich experiences in varying settings that allow her to have an assortment of unique skills to best support patients.

Dr. Ojoyeyi completed her PsyD and is being mentored by Chelsey Foster Barrios, PhD throughout her fellowship.
