Dr. Alison Haar is a child and adolescent psychologist who effectively treats children as well as adults. Naturally optimistic and enthusiastic, she helps patients overcome their challenges using a warm, supportive approach to care. Children and adolescents respond particularly well to her light hearted, joyful treatment style, and she uses age-appropriate techniques to help young people reduce the symptoms of anxiety, depression, and other mental health disorders. She is keenly aware that managing a child’s problems must extend to parent management training and collateral family work, and regularly incorporates parents and family members into treatment. She is trained to deliver SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions) treatment to parents of anxious children. SPACE is a novel parent-based treatment, developed at Yale by psychiatrist Dr. Eli Lebowitz, that teaches parents the skills to address their child’s anxiety symptoms. Adult patients find her engaging and relatable. With a holistic approach to wellness, her patients gain the skills they need to live happier, healthier lives.
