Practice Philosophy:

Personable and engaging, Dr. Christina Tripodi Mitchell is a licensed school and clinical psychologist who offers therapy and psychoeducational testing to children, adolescents and adults. She creates a warm, accepting environment where patients of all ages feel comfortable. When working with children, she offers age-appropriate treatment and regularly involves parents as an integral part of treatment and testing. She teaches parents management skills to better understand their child and respond appropriately to their issues. As a school psychologist, she is skilled at communicating and collaborating with schools and outside providers in fully assessing each child’s situation. With her positive energy and compassionate demeanor, she helps patients develop the skills and understanding to overcome their difficulties and progress toward their best selves. Whether through therapy or testing, she offers all patients a plan to help them reach their goals and maximize their potential.

Areas of Expertise:

Dr. Tripodi specializes in the treatment of anxiety and mood disorders, depression, OCD, ADHD in children and adults, and behavioral problems through the use of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and evidence-based practice. She is known for her expertise in psychological testing, and leads The Ross Center team as the Director of Psychological Testing and Evaluation. When testing, she gathers information to gain insights into a patient’s unique profile, and tailors recommendations that reflect individual patterns of strengths and weaknesses and lead to appropriate interventions. She also provides therapy for families relating to divorce and parenting. With her wise guidance, Dr. Tripodi’s patients gain a clear understanding of their challenges and a roadmap with strategies for making progress and facilitating change.

Experience and Training:

Dr. Tripodi received her B.A. in Psychology from The George Washington University, and her M.S. and Psy.D. in School Psychology from St. John’s University. At St. John’s, Dr. Tripodi completed a concentration in Clinical Psychology and Intervention and was awarded a University Doctoral Research Fellowship. Dr. Tripodi has experience training and working in numerous medical, clinical, and school settings, including Weill Cornell Medical Center, New York Presbyterian Hospital, and The London Children’s Practice. She is an active member of the American Psychological Association, The National Association of School Psychologists, The Association for Childhood Education International, The International Dyslexia Association, The NGO Committee on Mental Health at The United Nations, and The Health and Care Professions Council in the United Kingdom. Additionally, she is a certified Perinatal Mental Health professional and is licensed with the National Register of Health Service Psychologists. She also serves as a clinical professor of psychology at The George Washington University.
