Dr. Aimee Dispoto makes her clients feel seen and heard from the moment they meet. She is a licensed psychologist who works with adults and older adolescents. Dr. Dispoto specializes in working with women who feel stuck and are struggling to live the joyful, vibrant life they deserve. Many of her clients have been through trauma or family dysfunction, and attribute their present-day challenges to difficult life events. With older adolescents and college students, Dr. Dispoto is skilled in creating rapport. As the mother of a school-aged child and an adolescent, she knows that parenting can be challenging and also offers parent consultations to help reduce in-home stress and enhance communication and harmony. With warmth and active engagement, Dr. Dispoto uses a strengths-based approach to connect clients with their values and inspire change. All of her clients learn coping strategies and problem-solving skills to use throughout life. Dr. Dispoto helps her clients adapt to challenges by developing greater psychological flexibility. She believes that the therapeutic relationship should be one of unconditional acceptance and strives to be the kind of therapist she would want to work with.

Dr. Dispoto specializes in working with individuals and families experiencing anxiety, depression, difficulties associated with complex trauma, and life transitions. She has a passion for working with women dealing with mental health difficulties due to menopausal transition. Dr. Dispoto uses a dynamic framework in therapy to help clients examine patterns in their emotions, thoughts, and beliefs in order to gain insight into their current self. She draws from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Mindfulness to provide clients with immediate tools they can use to reduce their distress and connect with what is important to them. Dr. Dispoto has expertise in using trauma-informed therapy to help clients process past events and build skills and resilience to cope with life stressors.
Experience and Training:
Dr. Dispoto received her PsyD in Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University and is a licensed psychologist in New York, Virginia, and New Jersey. The majority of her graduate training was at New York University, where she earned an advanced certification as a School Psychologist. Dr. Dispoto has specialized training in trauma-focused CBT and Mindfulness training. Prior to joining The Ross Center, Dr. Dispoto worked as a forensic psychologist at a trauma-focused treatment center for children and families and spent many years working as an administrator and mental health counselor in private and public schools across the east coast. She is enthusiastic about using her training and clinical experience to improve the emotional wellness of her patients.
Dr. Dispoto exclusively provides virtual treatment using a HIPAA compliant telemedicine platform.
