Practice Philosophy:

Dr. Kali Rowe is a licensed psychologist who works with children, teens, and adults. She brings curiosity and authenticity to each session, aiming to meet each client where they are at and creating a therapeutic environment adapted to meet the unique goals and mental health needs of those she serves. Clients gain an increased understanding of themselves and learn the skills needed to overcome their challenges. Within the context of a collaborative working relationship, Dr. Rowe helps clients discover their own inner resilience, wisdom, and strength and use those resources to effectively navigate and manage life stressors. She engages caregivers in the treatment process as well as relevant family members and collateral networks, providing support, guidance, and collaboration to help individuals realize their developmental potential and thrive.

Areas of Expertise:

Dr. Rowe specializes in helping children, adolescents, and adults who are struggling with depression, anxiety, life transitions, traumatic grief and loss, relationship problems, and issues of identity. She has extensive experience working with survivors of abuse and complex trauma, including trauma resulting from discrimination and racism. Using an integrative approach to treatment, Dr. Rowe helps clients understand the link between past experiences and current challenges, while drawing from various evidence-based approaches, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness, to provide clients with tools and coping skills to reduce their distress. In addition, Dr. Rowe recognizes the tremendous impact of culture on each client’s identity and how they interact with the world. She is committed to providing culturally sensitive and inclusive care, supporting clients as they explore aspects of their identity and navigate stressors.

Experience and Training:

Dr. Rowe received her PhD in Counseling Psychology and MSEd in Mental Health Counseling from Fordham University. Her clinical training has ranged from working in college counseling centers, nonprofit organizations, psychiatric inpatient facilities, and outpatient hospital settings. Prior to joining The Ross Center, Dr. Rowe worked for NYC Health + Hospitals, where she provided mental health services to at-risk children, teens, and their families, many of whom presented with complex mental health histories as well as other social, academic, and developmental challenges. She also has experience performing psychological assessments, including diagnostic clarification, identification of client strengths and weaknesses, and planning for school or workplace accommodations.
